Golden Nugget Spring Wine Fest Grand Tasting 2014

This is how a wine tasting should be!

I have to hand it to the Golden Nugget, they have the right formula for a proper wine tasting. Their grand ballroom is just the right size for an event like this, the room itself is pleasing to the eyes, and the flow of the area was perfect. I was thoroughly impressed by each aspect. The band had the right mood going all night and the buzz/energy in the room never died down. Water was readily available for all and the food provided was on point! The cheese spreads alone were to die for! And did I mention an entire chocolate table?!

As for the wines and the pouring personnel: Most had models pouring, but they did a good job of mostly knowing what they were pouring and could actually speak about each one. Everyone was upbeat and even the waitstaff for GN was extremely fast and efficient.

I know there are larger and fancier wine tastings throughout the year, but the overall quality of all parts combined for the Golden Nugget Wine Fest is just perfect. I really have no qualms about any aspect of this wine fest. It was purely enjoyable and I can’t wait until next year!

Please enjoy the photos below of the wines that I thought were above average. (And of course some pics of the food offered!)

Description
9 Location

In the heart of Fremont Street, the Golden Nugget is easy to get to and the Ballroom is quite good looking.

10 Wine Selection

Wines from the USA and South America were showcased, plenty to choose from.

7 Price

At about $100 a person it definitely isn't inexpensive, but that does keep the crowd a little more refined, and allows for things like amazing food and cheese!

10 Entertainment

The band had a good feel and played appropriate music for the evening. Also, it a good volume level where it was enjoyable but I could still speak to people and be heard.

9 Overall

I was very impressed by this wine fest and I really think it can't get much better. I'm excited for next year's already!
